Driver requirements VIC

• Have a smartphone, mobile number and email address

• Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or otherwise have the right to work in Australia

• Have held an unrestricted Australian driver licence for at least 6 months

• Have an ABN and be GST-registered

• Hold a current Driver Accreditation

• Be listed as the insured driver on the insurance

Vehicle Requirements VIC

Vehicles must meet the state government’s requirements and must be in great condition, free of any damage and decals. The vehicle must:

• be no more than 15 years

• have a minimum of 4 doors

• seat a minimum of 4 passengers

• seat a maximum of 6 passengers

• RWC accepted. Exemption for new vehicle within 12 months

• be covered under a current third-party or comprehensive insurance

• be registered as a Commercial Passenger Vehicle in Victoria

Document Requirements

• Profile Picture

  You will need to submit a clear photo of yourself (in JPG, JPEG, PNG format, at least 200 x 200 pixels). The photo you submit will be displayed as your profile picture for riders to verify you.

• Driver’s Licence

  You will need to submit a copy of your current driver licence. You must have held a full driver licence in VIC for a minimum period of 6 months to provide rideshare services.

• Driver accreditation

  You will need to submit a Driver Accreditation (DA) certificate. More information can be found on

• Proof of ID

  You will need to provide an alternative ID (other than your driver licence), such as a valid passport, Immi card, Australian or NZ birth certificate or citizenship certificate.

• Commercial Passenger Vehicle Registration

  Your vehicle must be registered as a commercial passenger vehicle. More information can be found on

• Vehicle Inspection

  You must ensure that your vehicle passes a vehicle inspection by Redbook Pty Ltd every 12 months. You will need to submit the full report of vehicle inspection report issued within 12 months of your application. To book a vehicle inspection with Redbook Pty Ltd, click here!

• Declare Your Vehicle Insurance

  You will need to declare that your vehicle is insured. Your vehicle must have current third-party damage or comprehensive insurance cover, on which you should be listed as an insured driver.

Signage Requirements

Victoria The stickers must be clearly visible to persons approaching it and must be placed in a spot where it cannot be removed by a person sitting in the driver’s seat.

After your registration is approved, you will receive 2 x self-adhesive DiDi Stickers by post. Most states and territories’ regulations require that you display signs indicating that the vehicle is being used to provide passenger services.
